Assalam Alaikum!!!
I wonder why the wives, by introducing themselves, say "I am a housewife"? I mean the woman is wife to her husband....Is this that she is also wife for her house, lol, I never said that and even I never liked someone introducing herself with these words.....as I always find confusion this way.
Beside,I want to be called as a HOMEMAKER...,mmmm that sound cool to me and more respectable too, we MAKE our home, our home is represented by us...*
Let me share a quote with you ppl........
I prefer the word 'homemaker' because 'housewife' always implies that there may be a wife someplace else.
Bella Abzug
This was the quote by a NON MUSLIM woman!
Our famous Islamic Scholar Zakir Nayeek also preferred HOMEMAKER instead of HOUSEWIFE as he says are we married to our husbands or houses?
So I loved to be called a HOMEMAKER .
Say for yourself and look what feels more respectable to you?
I am a housewife...(feels like doing some job)
I am a homemaker...(hmm sounds like we are possessing some strong position) :)
