McDonald's Toys to be Banned ???

I don't know if any of you is aware of this or not, but my DH told me that McDonald's toys, which come with "Happy Meals" for kids, are going to get banned as this UNHEALTHY food is causing weight gain and children are getting addicted to it due to those toys.
I told this REALLY BAD ;) news to my 10-years-old brother and he made sad "O" mouth which made me laugh :D

here is an extract from a site:
The measure, believed to be the first of its kind in the United States, is being introduced in Santa Clara County, an area of 1.7 million people that includes Silicon Valley.

One quarter of children in the area are overweight or obese and officials say they are tackling an "obesity epidemic".They said toys were being used to lure children to high calorie foods loaded with salt.

Ken Yeager, the county supervisor behind the ban, said: "This prevents restaurants from preying on children's love of toys to peddle high calorie, high fat, high sodium kids' meals. It breaks the link between unhealthy food and prizes."

Food outlets will be stopped from offering toys with meals that do not meet a set of basic nutrition standards. There will be a limit of 485 calories per meal.

But Harlan Levy of McDonald's disagreed, saying: "It substitutes the county's judgment for the judgment of parents. It does nothing to address a holistic response to the problem."

Happy Meals were introduced in 1979 and since then, toys offered with food have become increasingly elaborate.

  1. Asalam Alaykum,

You know I totally agree with this. My son always wants this just for the stupid cheap toy. In the states you can choose fruit and other healthy options with kids meals but not here in KSA and that's not really fair. Toys no matter how stupid sway kids. NOT only that they are made in China and not even safe.

Hijab for Chubby Face?

I am just bored of how I simply wrap hijab around my head, tried different ways but I hate putting pins around, what if they pinch me or my lil one or maybe drop on floor and someone gets hurt, secondly I noticed that we don't get extra long hijab easily which covers the chest, thirdly I noticed that tight hijabs don't look good on chubby faces. So I looked on google by typing Hijab on Chubby face and saw lot of good images and tutorials and found out that loose curl hijabs look good on such face. I do wear niqaab as well but want to style hijab nicely in case I go to someone's home.  I loved the images here ....not posting direct pics in case model minds.... AND specially loved some here  and here Check this for info on hijab according to face shape.....

Time Management

I am being a night owl since weeks and it really sucks. I really feel bad about it later and wanted to manage my time.We , the Muslims, should never say that WE ARE BORED.... we have to utilize our time and use our health and energy for our religion and for the basis Allah has sent us for. No human being is send to this Earth without any duty he/she has to perform and these all words are fact of life and hence I feel ashamed of how I am misusing my energy and time in really useless ways. While googling through the net, I found a best idea here  and am so much impressed that how easy and well illustrated way the writer has described the Time Management Tips. 1. Analysing the Time : For this we have to take record in our diary about how we spend our daily routine even realizing how much time we MOSTLY waste on certain stuff. 2. Cutting Back unproductive demands: Now by taking note of what we really do each day and seeing a list of our noted activities, we can find ...

I am now "A MOTHER"... Alhamdulillah

Life was going on and on with its ups and downs. It is a general idea of every girl to get married and have kids. I got married but still no kids. Lots and Lots of people were raising their brows, asking questions and taunting, some people just don't want to miss chance to play with others feelings. I knew inside me and from depth of my heart that if I intend something, I will get it, so I knew it I will surely become a mother if Allah Wills but the question was.....WHEN? I just couldn't wait. Then there was a girl I knew who fell pregnant after four years of marriage. I remember she used to cry a lot and was showing her weakness MORE than me, so when I heard she fell pregnant,I unconsciously started walking, I knew it(medically) that it was my weight which didn't allow me to conceive. I started to exercise, adopted healthy lifestyle and was DEEPLY praying to Allah to Bless me with a baby... SOON... I got trapped in my personal issues again but didn't forget t...
